An Open, Friendly, Prayerful, Hopeful Open Letter to Indiara Sfair and Milk ‘n Blues

Have you all listened to Patti Smith’s 12 Album? If there is such a place as Heaven, it is a recording studio where my favorite artists go to record “15” and “10” and “13” and so forth.

Here are my picks for Indiara Sfair and Milk and Blues and all the Portuguese People whose names I cannot say or spell, *please please* make an album with these songs:

More About Indiara Sfair

Indiara Sfair originated from Curitiba - State of Paraná, Brazil. She has performed with the Brazilian band Milk’n Blues and collaborations include: Masanori Utsumi, Leo Vik, Harry Hmura, Ricardo Maranhão, Guilherme Tosin and Joe Flip.

Indiara Sfair parted with Milk'n Blues in 2017. Indiara Sfair can always find another band, but Milk'n Blues cannot find another Indiara Sfair, she is so unique and talented. You can just feel her spirituality and artistry pouring out in her harmonica playing and singing.

Milk’n Blues band members are Indiara Sfair (Harmonica and vocals) Ricardo Maranhão on vocals and blues guitar, two female lead singers (Aline Mota and Anne Glober), a bassist and vocal harmony singer (Eduardo Machado) and a drummer and background singer (Piatan Sfair).

One obvious aspect of Milk’n Blues is the harmonies created by the blended vocals (Mashup/Get Lucky), an extremely pleasurable and unique sound.

From the webpage <milknblues.com/en/>: Since 2012, the band has been playing at several different venues in Parana and 4 others states in Brazil. Besides night clubs and live music bars, Milk’n Blues also participates in Music Festivals, having shared the stage with other renowned artists such as Robben Ford, Kenny Brown and Brazilian bands Titãs and Blitz.

TV appearances include public networks such as Record PR, TV Gazeta, RPC - Globo PR; and cable TV networks such as Record News and Multishow. Milk’n Blues has also had its music and interviews aired in several different radio stations in Brazil (Rádio Mundo Livre, Radio Gazeta SP, Radio Cidade RJ, Jovem Pan) and abroad (Berbeley Liberation Radio – USA, The Cat – UK, Canadian Musician – Canada).

The band’s first album was released in 2015 and brings 10 original tracks composed by the group. The album is available on most major streaming and digital stores such as iTunes and Spotify. Blues, Soul, Rock, Pop and R&B are strong influences on the work, which has the song ‘Is There Anybody there’ as its first single.

From the webpage <https://www.hohner.de/en/indiara-sfair>: Originating from Curitiba, Brazil native Indiara Sfair quickly won the hearts of music fans all over the world with her unique, sensitive harmonica sound. Part of Brazilian blues band “Milk'n'Blues”, she is both player and accomplished composer. End quotes.

Both the band Milk'n Blues and Indiara Sfair have unique, ear-candy sound. Milk'n Blues covers and original songs leave the listener wanting more (as in where do I buy CD's? Indiara's many collaborations and solos also leave the listener wanting to purchase CD's.

On August 17, 2019, Googling "who is the world's greatest harmonica player” resulted in scores of men and only two women, those two women were not Indiara Sfair. There should be no doubt that she should be on Google's shortlist of "world's greatest harmonica players". Hohner's succinct description of "unique, sensitive harmonica style" does go a long way in describing her. But she composes, she improvises, she does covers and she is an accomplished vocalist.

In America, Pop Music has greatly nailed its own coffin shut with voice tuning computers and non-lyrical music (oh-oh oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah)…America has gone from the Golden Age of Music to mindless drones vocally “buying vowels”.

Indiara Sfair and Milk’n Blues probably are and rightly should be just on the verge of having world-wide attention. Their rendition of The Thrill Is Gone/Summertime shows them to be true blues artists, refreshingly talented and innovative. If you are tired of light-weight American singers making vowel noises, listen to The Thrill Is Gone/Summertime.

If there is any criticism of Milk’n Blues and Indiara Sfair, it is the mildest and has to do with time and timing not of music, but of logistics and marketing. I want to buy a box-set of CD’s with pictures of the band on the liners, I want to pay extra for a signed Indiara Sfair Box of CD’s. That is not really criticism, is it? "Your Daddy's rich and your Mama's good-looking..."

To date (18 Aug 2019) this is the most popular Indiara Sfair/Milk'n Blues song on youtube: Miss You, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, Another Brick in The Wall - Stones + Pink Floyd (cover)

It is so easy to state the obvious, that Indiara Sfair, her many collaborators and Milk'n Blues have really beautiful music coming out of their pores. These artists all just ooze excellence. That's obvious. The band, band members and collaborators all have a synergy that is sometimes overwhelming in a good way, other times nuanced. This is music you later find humming to yourself. For instance, the song Mercy - Duffy (cover) - Milk'n Blues + Zé Rodrigo. The last few days, I've found myself singing or humming parts of the song.

Sirens are the servants of Poseidon, whose unearthly singing lures sailors to their deaths as they steer their ships into the rocks. ... Poseidon sent three Sirens to prevent Ulysses from returning to Ithaca, but Xena helped him avoid them by singing herself (as by this time, he was in love with her). The women of Milk'n Blues are both Sirens and Xena...
